Aside from his great solo work, he’s also in Hali-beloved Guided By Voices‘ touring band. He’ll be playing solo as well as with a Halifax All Star band and the opening songwriters’ circle will include fellow HUFF headliners Tommy Stinson, Mary Gauthier along with Terra Spencer at The Carleton on Friday, September 29th. Show time is 7 PM and tickets for this talented gang are $30 + HST.

The Hello Darlins + Charm of Finches

The Hello Darlins were so pleased with the band’s reception at The Carleton in February of 2022, that lead singer Candace Lacina and Halifax Urban Folk Festival Program Director Mike Campbell, immediately started plotting to bring them back for this year’s edition. Since then, the band’s profile has increased exponentially, thanks to opening nationally for Matt Andersen over the past spring. Thankfully, the band has agreed to return to the region for HUFF and will perform on Thursday, September 28th. Show time is 7:30 PM and tickets are $35 + HST. Get ’em while you can, this band is dynamite!

As a bonus, we’ve just added Australian duo Charm of Finches to the bill. You’re welcome!

Joe H. Henry

Manitoba transplant, now proud Nova Scotian, Joe H Henry blew the Scotiabank Centre crowd away during the recent benefit for those affected by the unprecedented wildfires in our province with his new song, Keep The Fire Burning (coincidentally the name of his brand-spanking new EP). He followed that up with a sold out, full band performance, at The Carleton in June. We at the Halifax Urban Folk Festival took note and are very happy to announce that he will return to play HUFF (along with the band) on Tuesday, September 26th. Show time is 7 PM and tickets are $25 + HST. If you haven’t caught his act yet, prepare to be totally knocked out.

Grace Petrie

Immediately after Grace Petrie finished her astonishing sold out début Atlantic Canadian show at The Carleton last year, Grace and HUFF Program Director Mike Campbell started plotting to bring her back to Canada to kick-off the 2023 version of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival. It took a lot of work, but we are thrilled they managed to work out the logistics and she will return to the venue for two shows – one a 2 PM matinée and the other at 7 PM (this one) – on Sunday, September 24th. Tickets are only $25 + HST in each case.

Every once in a long while, an artist’s performance can change your life, Grace is one of those artists…
