Tim Baker is best known as the writer and frontman of the much- acclaimed Newfoundland group, Hey Rosetta!. They are a Juno- nominated, Polaris-shortlisted, heavily-awarded band that has been creating poetic, powerful alternative music for over a decade. Year after year, they brought their sweeping, high-energy live show all over the world, playing major festivals, stadiums, theatres, and clubs. In the fall of 2017, the band announce an indefinite hiatus, selling nearly 10,000 tickets in a short run of farewell shows. Although a sad ending, it gave Tim the opportunity to return to a solo situation, much like how Hey Rosetta! began nearly 13 years ago. In late 2017, Tim spent time in the studio with producer and close friend, Marcus Paquin. Together, they took over 30 of Tim’s compositions, and narrowed them down to a handful that represented Tim at his core: a wonderfully imaginative acoustic songwriter, a thoughtful poet, a playful arranger, and a technically profound musician. The recordings stood to be good demos, but didn’t fully capture what Baker wanted to first offer in a solo setting. Instead, in an attempt to reconnect with fans and become inspired again, Baker embarked on a cross-Canada mission, performing in studios, living rooms, and small art spaces. He recorded 15 performances and narrowed the recordings down to a solo EP, set to be released later in 2018.
